Our application to become an NDIS registered provider is pending, but the essential supports and services to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities are still available. Funding for services

Supported Independent Living with disabilities

Supported Independent Living

Supported independent living is one type of support to help you live in your home. It includes help or supervision with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals. It helps you live as independently as possible, while building your skills.Supported independent living is for people with higher support needs, who need some level of help at home all the time. This means you need a significant amount of help throughout the day, 7 days a week. This includes overnight support.


Supported independent living is best suited to people with a disability who have higher support needs. You can get supported independent living if you live with other NDIS participants. You can also get supported independent living if you live on your own, but there might be other home and living supports that suit you better.


Supported independent living funding can’t be used for things like rent or other day-to-day expenses like groceries.

Social and Community Participation with disabilities

Social and Community Participation

There are many supports, programs, and activities designed to help you reach your social and community participation goals. The NDIS guides can help you learn about what they are and how they can help. The guides focus on supports for adults (over 18 years of age) who are on the autism spectrum, live with an intellectual disability, or live with a psychosocial disability. These guides may also be useful for other people. People use different terms to describe autism. The NDIS the guides, say autism spectrum and adults on the autism spectrum.


What topics do the NDIS guides cover?

  • Getting ready for social and community participation: How can you get ready to participate in your community and what supports are available to build your confidence and skills.
  • Connecting with social and community activities: Supports that can help you get involved with people and activities in the community.
  • Staying connected with social and community activities: How you can stay connected to your social and community activities when you go through different life stages.

In home and holiday respite NDIS funding

Short Term Accommodation and Respite

Short Term Accommodation, including respite, provides funding for support and accommodation away from your usual home for up to 14 days. It covers personal care, accommodation, food, and activities. This support is useful when your usual carers are unavailable or for trying new experiences.


Short Term Accommodation can help you:

  • Try new things.
  • Make new friends or develop new skills.
  • Give your informal supports a break.


Funding can be used flexibly, usually up to 28 days per year, and is typically for group settings unless individual support is needed. If you already have a Core budget, it can be used for Short Term Accommodation. (FVDH provide respite for in-home and holiday)
